Confidence

<aside> 💬 As a manager, it’s part of my job to help the people that I work with gain new skills and refine their craft. One thing I’ve noticed with designers that are earlier-on in their career is a lack of confidence when talking about their own work. It takes a while for them to get to a point where they can comfortably say “This is the solution I think we should go for”, to speak more definitely about what they think will and won’t work (backed up by data and research of course!).

<aside> 💬 I definitely haven’t found a magic formula to help folks get more confident, but I find this concept that the video below talks about very intriguing. Dr. K talks about how people don’t exactly lose confidence, rather they gain insecurities. It’s maybe outside of the realm of confidence at work, but it’s still interesting to think about.
